Definition of debriefing psychology
Experiments and studies about the human psychology are quite expected. And when a study or rather of psychology ends, the participants of the experiment need to be informed about this by the researchers. And the researchers should also encourage the participants so that they can ask questions about the research. According to the debriefing psychology definition it is important to ensure that the participant of the study is not harmed by any means. These studies and researches are conducted with the human subjects. This also includes an interview between the researchers and subjects where all the information of the study is discussed.
Process of debriefing psychology
There are some Code of Ethics is psychology and according to that when a study is completed the researchers need to inform that to the participant of the research. Researchers should also inform the participants regarding the purpose of the research and they also need to communicate the finding and their indications.
Having some misconception about the research and about its results is quite natural among the participants. And researchers need to clarify all those misconceptions. Let me clear this with an example. If a subject is told that a study on the impact of color in human concentration is being conducted, during the briefing, the subject should be intimated the hypothesis is particular. The debriefing psychology definition says that he or she should be informed that the hypothesis was that when a subject is in a light colored room, he or she can concentrate more than when he/she is in a dark colored room.
Researchers however are not needed to disclose each and every detail of the study before the beginning of the study. The simple reason behind this is that such knowledge may have an impact on the experiment and to its results. But when the study is completed, the researchers need to convey the findings of the experiment as we learnt in the debriefing psychology definition.
Mental or emotional condition of the subject
This is very important. When an experiment is completed, the researchers need to ensure that the mental and emotional condition of the subject, participated in the study is the same as he/she had before the participation. The definition of debriefing psychology also says that if there is anything unnatural among the subjects, the researchers need to take necessary action to solve the situation. The responsibility of bringing the subject to his/her early mental state is completely on the researcher.
